In September, we celebrate the premiere of three remarkable documentaries. Experience the surreal world of the Rotterdam harbor in ANIMA at the Netherlands Film Festival, explore LUCKY LOBSTER, a portrait of the Zeeland fisherman Cor Fondse, at Film by the Sea, and discover FANFARE, which delves into the eponymous art project by Aukje Dekker.

ANIMA premieres at the Netherlands Film Festival

The short documentary ANIMA immerses you in the surreal world of the Rotterdam harbor, where the line between human and machine becomes blurred. The film will premiere at the Netherlands Film Festival on Saturday, September 21, at 15:00 in Kinepolis Jaarbeurs, Hall 7, in Utrecht. On November 4, the film will be broadcast at 23:15 on NPO2 by HUMAN.

ANIMA, produced by NEWTON film and directed by Josefien van Kooten and Anna Witte, was created as part of Teledoc Campus, a collaboration between CoBO, the Netherlands Film Fund, NPO Fund, and NPO.

FANFARE

The 22-minute film FANFARE portrays the story behind the eponymous artwork by Aukje Dekker, in which 12 musicians and 12 singers from different provinces come together without direction or rehearsal for a unique performance at the Binnenhof. The film is part of a series of films produced by NEWTON film, commissioned by the Atelier Chief Government Architect. It is part of the art program ‘Kunstparade Binnenhof Renovatie,’ where renowned artists create new temporary works during the renovation of the Binnenhof. Each film has a unique approach tailored to the specific artwork, the artist’s vision, and the collaborations involved. The film will be online on September 10th.

CUSTOMER JOURNEY

We are also hard at work on our new feature-length documentary, CUSTOMER JOURNEY. In the film, we follow the integration process of several status holders in the Municipality of Breda and gain a unique insight into how various agencies try to guide them through the complex maze of Dutch society. Production is in full swing, with more than 40 shooting days already completed. We expect to finish the film by the end of 2025 and then screen it in various theaters.
